Boardmaking
I lead classes in making and playing on your own konane boards to take home and enjoy, or gift to friends and family
Boardmaking workshops for ages 8 and up
In my workshop we will share some history regarding the kōnane game board. Then we will discuss how each board was rough cut, and how to hand finish it. Each participant will learn the basics of sanding techniques, with emphasis on acquiring the desired finish.
Previous Workshop:
August 19, 2023, was open to the public and was FREE! Held at the Royal Hawaiian Shopiing Center, near the center stage. Join our club list to learn more about upcoming events
Our Mission
To provide tools and resources to play kōnane is part of our Activate Aloha project. We promote mindful and cultural activities that build value in our communities.
Gather with groups of any size and learn the basics of boardmaking
Private Lesson
Perfect for individuals who really want to get it done right. A privat lesson will allow ones own creative energy to design, shape, sand and finish a truely original work of art.
Beginner To Advance
I can host groups of all sizes from beginner to advanced woodsmiths. My youngest age I work with starts at about ten yeas old, with considerations for younger children if they are accompanied by an adult participant.
Tournement Tools
I can conduct a “Make and Play” style activity where the boards are playable “as is” to kick off the workshop with a double elimination style tournament. After a contestant is eliminated, they are free to work on finishing their boards together or solomente.
